When Jana and I were in Ireland during September of 2005 we kept a journal of the stuff we did during the trip. The intention was that we would show this to friends and family, and ultimately put it all online.
I am now proud to present scans of the entire journal of our trip.
Clicking the picture below will take you to the photoset on Flickr. You can then read all 59 pages (some are pictures) at your leisure.
Enjoy!

So after a bonus week of working at Amazon, I am truly and finally done. The quitting is complete.
To be honest, I was a little bit sad when the exit interviewer said they would need me to turn in my badge. I think I had gotten used to the look of it, and the routine of wearing it.
Now after being without it for a day I am really starting to like the feeling. I look at my empty badge holder and remember a scene from the 2003 sleeper hit The Matrix Reloaded:
Agent Smith: I’m looking for Neo.
Guy at door: Never heard of him.
Agent Smith: I have something for him, a gift. You see, he set me free…
I’ve given up my earpiece. I am in control of my schedule now. And I like it.
That’s all for now. Much more to come.

The Mates of State came by today for a Fishbowl, my last as an employee of Amazon. It was delicious.
The keyboard and drums overpowered the vocals, but it was still insanely great. A nice way to finish off the series.

Now that the word is out about my leaving (and word spreads fast), it seems that my amount of work has doubled. It is not an uncommon occurance for me to be in the office later than 7:30 anymore.
If I wasn’t already quitting, I would probably be thinking hard about it right now.
In other news, I bought an ice-cream maker this weekend. My first batch (Vanilla) has turned out awesome. Stay tuned for more coverage!

I have been under a self-imposed pseudo-quarantine (plus hyphenation-fest) for the last three days as I fight tooth and nail to get over this cold.
Not once have I stepped foot out of my apartment. Not even into the hallway.
Fortunately I remembered to grab my laptop before I left work on Monday, and have been able to take care of my duties from home. Perhaps more effectively than usual, what with my swanky dual 19″ LCDs. Yum.
Planning to vanquish the foul demons that afflict my system tonight, I find myself thinking strangely about tomorrow. Thoughts like: oh, yeah, I have a car! Will it still be out there? On what part of the street did I park it?
I don’t even remember where I parked my car.Â
During the last three days the thought of my car did not even enter my mind. Out of sight, out of something.
I don’t know what the temperature is like outside. It has been nice and toasty in here, but it could be 35 degrees outside. All I am sure of is that when I open the window it is colder out there than it is in here.
Well, I have once more kept myself up much later than I ought. Time to sleep, and see if I can answer some of these burning questions tomorrow. I am excited to explore… THE OUTSIDE!

Don’t come near me — I am deadly!
And uncomfortable. Quick, someone e-mail me some miracle cures. Fast!

Package 2 (the Mac mini) has landed in Seattle! It is the first to make it here, and thus gets 10 points added to its score.
Package 1 better hope to make it up in delivery time bonus, else they are out of the game!

My keyboard/mouse and DVI-HDMI cable are in Portland now. Ever so much closer!
Waiting for toys is such tiring work.
